Gammons Straw Poll: Yankees vs. Red Sox

As we prepare to move into the month of June, the Yankees and Red Sox are sitting atop the American League East.

And now for a little straw poll...

Um ... there's three other teams in the A.L. East, two of which (Baltimore and Tampa Bay) are proving to be legitimate contenders. Why limit the poll to just the Yankees and Red Sox? Personally I think one or both of the Orioles and Rays will finish with a better regular season record than the teams listed in the poll.

The question speaks to which of two teams will have a better season, not which team will have the best season. These two teams have a big history that begs the question every year. It is quite possible one of the other teams may beat the Sox and Yankees. Time will tell as there are over 100 games to be played.
